About travelling from Kelowna Airport (YLW) to Sun Peaks Resort, BC
Sun Peaks is a major mountain destination in British Columbia. Large enough to keep you exploring, while remaining laid-back and easy to navigate. Located 2 hours and 45 minutes from Kelowna Airport, it’s the second-biggest ski area in Canada, offering more than 4,000 acres across three distinct mountains: Tod, Sundance, and Morrisey. The terrain ranges from smooth groomers to gladed pockets, long cruisers, and rolling powder stashes, all fuelled by the dry, reliable snow the British Columbia interior region is known for.
The village sits right at the base of the slopes with true ski-in/ski-out access from most accommodations. It’s modern, compact, and friendly offering a quieter alternative to BC’s bigger, busier resorts. For après, Powder Hounds and The Sunburst Bar offer easygoing spots for beer and comfort food, while The Steakhouse at Sun Peaks Lodge and Bella Italia deliver more luxury dinner options. For coffee and breakfast, check out Tod Mountain Café or Café Soleil before heading to the lift.
When the snow melts, the resort shifts into summer mode with downhill biking, alpine hiking, and golfing. The bike park has lift-accessed trails suited to all riders, and the 18-hole golf course sits right at the base of the peaks. Weekend concerts, outdoor movies, and artisan markets keep the village active all season.
The closest airport to Sun Peaks is Kamloops Airport (YKA) but you can also fly into Kelowna International Airport (YLW), which services direct flights from Vancouver, Calgary, Edmonton, Toronto, Seattle and more. From the airport in Kelowna you can book a transfer with Ridebooker, whether you prefer a shared shuttle or a private vehicle including SUVs, taxis and vans for larger groups.
