People often ask

Not really. The village is compact and walkable. Most accommodation is ski in/ski out and an in resort shuttle runs between neighbourhoods in winter.

Sun Peaks is 212 km (132 miles) from Kelowna International Airport, about 2 hours 35 minutes by car via Vernon and Kamloops. Allow extra time in winter, especially for the final climb up Sun Peaks Road.

Tes. Ridebooker offers a shuttle bus from YLW to Sun Peaks that runs once per day. Seats fill up over Christmas, New Year and spring break, so book once your flights are confirmed, and leave a buffer after your landing time in case of delays.

If you are arriving outside of shuttle operating hours, you can also book a private transfer.

Kamloops Airport (YKA) is the closest, about an hour from Sun Peaks, with direct flights from Vancouver, Calgary, Edmonton and Victoria. Kelowna International Airport (YLW) has more routes, including Toronto and Seattle, but is nearly three hours away. If you can get a convenient flight into Kamloops, it saves a long transfer.

For solo travellers and couples, the shuttle bus is the cheapest option. For groups, a 14 passenger van or mini bus booked through Ridebooker can work out similar per person, with pickup timed to your flight arrival.

If youa re arriving after the shuttle bus has departed, you can book a private transfer. The driver will meet your flight whenever it lands, so a late arrival doesn't mean a night in Kelowna before heading up to Sun Peaks.

Yes. Ridebooker offers resort to resrot transfers between Sun Peaks, Big White and Silver Star, so you can fly into Kelowna and ski more than one resort on the same trip.

Yes, in winter. BC requires winter tires on most highways from October 1 to March 31, and Sun Peaks Road is steep and winding, with conditions that change quickly as you climb.

About travelling from Kelowna Airport (YLW) to Sun Peaks Resort, BC

Sun Peaks Resort is 212 km (132 miles) north of Kelowna International Airport (YLW), about 2 hours 35 minutes by road through Vernon and Kamloops before the final climb up Sun Peaks Road. Kamloops Airport (YKA) is the closer airport, but YLW has more flights, including direct routes from Toronto and Seattle, so plenty of Sun Peaks visitors fly into Kelowna and transfer from there.

Ridebooker offers a shuttle bus from YLW to Sun Peaks, which is the budget option for solo travellers and couples. It departs once each day and drops off at all major hotels in the resort. The drive time for the shuttle extends to 3 hours due to stops along the way.

A private transfer can be booked for those arriving outside of shuttle operating hours and will be timed to your flight arrival and takes you straight to your hotel or condo. Through Ridebooker, you can book a range of vehicles from taxis and sedans for smaller parties up to SUVs, charter vans and mini buses for larger groups bringing extra luggage such as ski bags, golf clubs and bikes.

Nearly three hours on the road is a long stretch straight off a flight, and in winter, the final 30km up Sun Peaks Road brings tight corners, steady grades and snow. Booking with Ridebooker means a local driver handles the journey for you, at a fixed price agreed before you travel.

Once you arrive at Sun Peaks, there is little need for a car. The resort is compact, walkable and most accommodations provide ski in/ski out access to the slopes. During winter an in-resort shuttle also connects neighbourhoods.
